Jenson Button Portrait by Nikki Douthwaite

JENSON BUTTON
Hole Punch Dots (Aprox 99,000) on wood.
Size - 160cm by 122cm
Completed May 2011

I decided to make this when I learnt that I would be showing my work at the opening of Silverstone's new paddock and pit lane building, The Wing, on May 14th 2011. I needed to make more Formula 1 pictures, and two years had passed since I had made my Jenson collage. In that time, my favourite driver had won the world championship in 2009, and moved to my favourite team, McLaren for the start of the 2010 season. Now JB was driving for my team, and since I wanted to make a dot McLaren collection, this meant I could now dot Jenson.

This piece was a little self indulgent. I made it for myself. It is only the second piece I have made that I felt I didn't make any mistakes. I hope to be able to show it to him at the British Grand Prix, and see what he thinks of himself in dots.

Good Luck JB, keep driving like the true gentleman you have become, always thinking, and driving with grace and elegance. I am sure that a second World Championship is in your future.
